People have all kinds of thoughts about what knowing God is all about. What we are talking about is a process of learning who Jesus Christ was, what He accomplished for us when He died on the cross, and how asking His forgiveness for our sins and placing our faith in His actions, puts us into a real relationship with Him.
Once we have entered into a real relationship with God through Jesus Christ, He gives us the ability through the third person of His being, the Holy Spirit, to get to know Him better. Through His Word, the Bible, we are instructed to get to know Him so well that it will be reflected in all that we do. “And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God.” Philippians 1:9-11(NIV)
Our relationship with God through Jesus Christ begins individually and uniquely. But, growth in God is accomplished best in community. Through the Bible we learn that God desires for His people to come together, regularly. And, it is when we get to know one another, people with similar passions, dreams and sometimes struggles, that we can grow together. Men encouraging men, women encouraging women, families sharing and helping one another. There is strength in relationship, and STFLC is committed to creating an atmosphere where that can happen.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son…” John 3:16. The kingdom of God on the earth started with giving and it sets a pattern for us to follow. Jesus gave all that He had for us. How can we do less? At STFLC, generosity is not seasonal; it’s constant. Through our LifeLine Outreach and our Katie Laura program, we desire to not only respond to needs as we become aware of them but to look, aggressively for ways we can help. By God’s grace, we will make a difference in the Southern Tier and have a long lasting impact through a heart of giving.
